Before the Disaster Strikes

Is an appeal made by more than 80 organizations working for the relief of the Syrian people on November 9, 2015, in anticipation of the severe cold weather expected in the winter of 2015-2016 for the displaced Syrians in the camps of displacement within Syria.
The call appealed to the international community, the friends of the Syrian people and the United Nations organizations to take urgent action to avoid the expected due to the harsh conditions caused by the cold waves. Especially since some 25,000 families were displaced in September because of the Russian bombing of civilian areas, adding to some 27,000 families who had been displaced in the last two years.

Consultation Meeting for the Establishment of the “Winter Fund”
A wide consultative meeting was held following the launch of the call for days, which was completed and launched in the city of Rihaniyah with the participation of more than eighty Syrian civil society organizations, to be the perfect culmination of the appeal that was launched . After this meeting the “Winter Fund” was launched to support the besieged areas inside Syria with a half-million US dollars provided through the ACU by the State of Qatar, in addition to various contributions from other institutions.

“Winter Fund” Response
More than $ 16,000,000,000 was donated by participating organizations. Displaced families in camps and disaster areas northern Syria benefited from the project . The materials provided ranged from relief items to emergency food ,hot meals and food baskets, thus covering relatively the projected needs in the non-food, shelter and food sectors.
